General Information
Peru is a destiny privileged by a cultural and a natural
wealth, having a diversity and wealth little common in the infinite world alternative
that offers to the visitor the possibility to live an unique experience: History,
culture, nature, adventure and much more in Peru. From Lima and its museums, private galleries of art, modern
districts, the ceviche, the mazamorra morada, to natural beauties like the national
reserve of Paracas, inhabited by exotic flamencos, humboldts pingüinos, wolves.
Nazca and its gigantic mysterious designs of geometric, anthropomorphous and
zoomorfas forms. The Peruvian North coast also has much to offer, from pre Incas
cultural evidences (the real tombs of the Lord of Sipan) and elegant colonial
cities (Trujillo), to the best beaches of the country, for lovers of surfing
and fishing.
In the South part of Peru, is located the Misti, in the valley
of the volcanoes, that dominates the white city of Arequipa, holder of the deepest
canyons of the world, the Cotahuasi and the Colca canyon, from where the
elegant flight of the king , The Condor, will be observed. History began in
the lake, grew the legend of a blue world, sailed by the Incas descendants who

green high Andean lagoons.
Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire, conserves jealously
in each corner of its streets, the inheritance of a suigeneris culture, being
the angular stone of the development of the man in the world, having as a dumb
witnesses to the magnify architectonic works harmonious and capriciously built
in natural scenes of incalculable natural beauty like Machu Picchu, Saqsayhuaman,
Ollantaytambo, Tipon, natural jewels like the natural park of Manu, Tambopata,
etc.
The Peruvian forest is magical and active with endemic and
varied species, leopards, anacondas and caimans, kings of the thick shade in
the fantastic green mantle, home of native community holders of a great wisdom
and respectful of their surroundings, majestic colossal rivers with pirañas,
paiches, marine wolves and its people characterized by their joy, enthusiastic,
passion love to see the life and by the tacacho, Juanes, Chuchuhuasi and Masato.
PERU IN BRIEF
Location.- Peru is located in the central and western
part of South America, in relation to the equatorial line; it was the cradle
of several cultures by thousands of years.
Limits.- Peru limits with the following countries:
Extension.- 1´285,215 km. Squares.
Population.- Approximately 28 million inhabitants.
Capital.- Lima, founded on 18 January of 1535
Languages.- Spanish, Quechua, Aymara and in addition
other dialects.
Main activities.- Mining, agriculture, tourism, farming,
trade.
Currency.- The Peruvian currency is the Nuevo sol,
its abbreviation is the S/.
Electricity.- The electricity in Peru is of 220 volts
or 60 cycles, but most of hotels, restaurants and establishments have converters
for 110 volts.
Regions.- Peru is a natural door to tourism, with
a tropical coast, deserts, mountains, forest, with different climate and people
only compared to a continent with several countries. The nature has privileged
to Peru with an enormous variety of climates, landscapes and ecosystems. 84
of the 114 ecological zones and 28 different climates are in Peru, which placed
itself within the 05 greatest countries with biological diversity in the world.
These variations allow Peru to produce maizes or corn with biggest grains and
to have the greater variety of this cereal in the world, the most delicious
avocado, the finer fiber of cotton and refreshing juices of fruits. It is divided
in three natural regions:
The Coast.- It is a desert Strip throughout the marine
coast, with a territorial percentage of 10,6%, tempered climate, little rain
(0,50 millimeters). The warmest months are from December to March, with temperatures
fluctuating between 28º and 30º centigrade. The cold months are June, July and
August with temperatures between 13º and 19º centigrade.
The Highlands.- It is formed by the south mountain
range, it has a territorial percentage of 30,1%, dry and cold climate, with
rains from November to April (400 - 1000 millimeters) and the dry season is
from May to October.
The Forest.- It is located to the Eastern flank of
the mountain range of the Andes with a territorial percentage of 59,3%, but
half of the national territory is in the Amazonian river basin; it has a humid
and warm climate with heavy pluvial precipitations. In the dry season, from
April to October, the temperature raises 35°C and from November to April, during
the rainy season, the climate is warm and humid, at any time of day can it rains
cats and dogs.

Transport
We have 14 airports ready to receive commercial flights and
10 for international flights: Lima, Arequipa, Chiclayo, Pisco, Pucallpa, Iquitos,
Cusco, Trujillo, Tacna and Juliaca. 17 airlines operate international flights
and 7 airlines offer domestic flights. Peru has more than 78 thousand kilometers
of highways, of which, 8.084.6 are asphalted. There are some routes by railroad
connecting Puno and Cusco, or Juliaca and Puno. In addition there is the route
from Cusco to Machu Picchu, Another railway link Lima with Huancayo and Huancavelica.
