During the trip from Cusco to Puno, friends, you will accompany us to know

Attractive tourist are in the environs of the city of the Cusco, but they have
much importance because are testimony of the development of the man, in addition
they are surrounded by beautiful landscapes and being inhabited by humble people
with an opened heart towards all the people who visit them. Tipón
Archaeological ruin located to the east of the city of Cusco, in the district
of Oropesa, province of Quispicanchi in the kilometer 18 of the highway Cusco-Puno
and from this point 5 km. above. At the beginning of this visit we will see
a colonial mansion, property of the Marquez San Lorenzo de Valle Umbroso, which
was one of the most recognized at the Colony period, built on Inca walls. This
mansion was built during the period of the Inca Yawar Waca, who was the owner. Tipón
constitutes a masterpiece of hydraulic engineering; nowadays it is used by the
settlers in benefit of its cultures. Also we will be able to observe a fabulous
system of terraces, constructions of stone and channels of irrigation. It
is important to mention that in Tipón, you can taste one of the most delicious
typical dishes of the region, “the guinea pig”.
Pikillaqta
Pikillacta is located in the province of Quispicanchi, to the east of the
city of Cusco, in the kilometer 32 in the highway Cusco-Puno. The meaning of
Pikillaqta is “town of fleas”, in relation to one old legend, although it seems
not to be the original name of this site. This Pre-hispanic town dated to
the time of expansion of the Wari culture, developed in the centre of the country.
The History tells us that the Waris was overcome by the Incas who reused this
place for their own interests. The studies made in this place present us
that were approximately seven hundred buildings of two to three plants, two
hundred seats and five hundred four warehouses. The ceramics remains founded
in Pikillaqta can be observed in the Inca Museum, located just in center of
the city.
Andahuaylillas
The town of Andahuylillas is located in the province of Quispicanchi, to
the west of the city of Cusco, at about 40 Km. of distance. Andahuaylillas
is a very cosy small town, with a very benign climate; it is surrounded by mountains
and bathed by the Vilcanota River. Due to the climate and water, its earth is
very fertile and the people are very affectionate and friendly. In this beautiful
place we will not see archaeological ruins, however we will see a temple of
hidden wonders, where recognized artists have known to shape their art and get
pieces of art that represent a different style. The colonial church of Andahuaylillas,
also called the “Sixtine Chapel” of Americas, is decorated completely by small
details that make resemblance to the original one in Rome - Italy.
Raqchi
Raqchi is located in the district of San Pedro de Cacha in the kilometer
one hundred twenty five of the Cusco first highway. Here we will be able
to observe walls of great size that according to some old chroniclers was built
by the Inca Wiraqocha. The studies made in the surrounding area state that
in the archaeological remain of Raqchi, each construction played a specific
role. Within the constructions we can observe kanchas (apartments) qolqas (warehouses),
water sources destined to the cult of the water. Friends!! visit Raqchi
means to know a little bit more of our history, to know the development level
of our ancestors, the Incas, that had its time of apogee and left their
legacy spread out through Cusco and Peru.
